Mayo Intercultural Action aims to promote the positive effects of interculturalism in Irish society. We would like to see an open, just and equal Ireland where human rights and cultural differences are respected and where new Irish communities are afforded equal rights and opportunities.
What is MIA?
Mayo Intercultural Action - otherwise known as MIA - is an organisation that exists to make newcomers to County Mayo feel welcome and to help them resolve any difficulties they may have. MIA's role is:
•to provide support and advocacy for migrants living and working in County Mayo
•to give a voice to asylum seekers who are in hostel accommodation in Mayo under Direct Provision
•to help people who have been granted residency in the County to find opportunities for training, education and employment
•to offer a safe and welcoming space where people seeking a new life in Ireland can take part in social activities, meet people in a similar situation and be informed about their rights and entitlements

Free confidential prefessional service for anyone affected by sexual violence recently or int he past. A safe place for someone who is a survivor of child sexual abuse, incest, rape or sexual assault to talk and get the support and information they need.Our philosophy is informed by the values of equality, empowerment and inclusiveness. All our staff and volunteers are accredited to the Rape Crisis NewtworkIreland.
Services provided are:
Information and support for anyone affected by sexual violence
Counselling on a short or long tem basis with professional accredited counsellors
A telephone counselling service
A 24 hour answer service
Accompaniment through all aspects of the legal process
The centre accepts and makes referrals to/from voluntary and statutory bodies and support groups

Monday - Thursday 9am to 5pm
Friday 9am to 1pm
