BWRT® is BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®, an immensely effective technique that can often dissolve many mind-related problems almost instantaneously. There's actually nothing else like it in the world of therapy.

What's so special about BWRT®?
BWRT is a psychological therapy developed in 2011 by UK therapist trainer Terence Watts and has enjoyed a speedy rise in popularity in the UK and worldwide, thanks to the success it has enjoyed from the start and its rapid resolution of problems. So profoundly successful is it that it's now employed as the main therapy in a South African mental health clinic, dealing with, among other things, the aftermath of violent trauma.

It's based on the latest discoveries in neuro-science about how the brain receives and stores information
You don't need to tell the practitioner anything you don't want to talk about - no need to share your secrets
As long as you know how you would prefer to feel instead of how you feel already, the practitioner can help you
Most problems are resolved very quickly, often in a single session and even complicated problems like alcoholism can be resolved in 4 -5 sessions
It's able to deal effectively with a wide range of issues, from simple anxiety or phobias all the way up to problems lke eating disorders, alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling, pornography addiction and more
All BWRT Therapists ('Practitioner' and 'Therapist' means the same thing) have to undergo a full assessment of their skills
It's logical and doesn't use trance states, tapping, touching, stroking, gazing, 'energy paths' meridians or anything else unscientific

Aware Support Groups offer a unique opportunity to talk openly about depression and its impact. We guarantee confidentiality within normal limits.

This means that confidentiality is guaranteed except:

• Where a person has immediate plans to self harm or plans to harm others.

• Where there is information that a child is at risk of, or has in the past been subjected to, harm/abuse/neglect.

Aware’s confidentiality policy is in line with best practice, and ‘Children First:National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children’ (Department of Children and Youth Affairs, 2011).

Ongoing attendance at the support groups will give you a better understanding of your depression (and elation) and its impact on your relationships and your work or social life. The caring and supportive nature of the groups allows attendees to develop the confidence to identify mood changes at an earlier stage, and so minimise the disruption on daily life.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) is Ireland’s oldest and most well-known children’s charity.  The ISPCC has a long, proud history of service delivery and advocacy on behalf of children.

Our Vision:

To see an Ireland where all children are heard and valued.

Our Work:
The ISPCC is the only organisation in Ireland providing unique 24 hour support services for children and young people through our Childline service. Childline receives the majority of its 2,300 calls and messages per day after 6pm each evening, when most other support services are closed. Childline receives no government funding, relying on the generosity of donors and volunteers to help run this vital, unique service.

ISPCC support workers and volunteer mentors also work with over 1,500 individual children and families nationwide each year through our suite of ISPCC support services  Our support workers encounter many issues such as emotional and behavioural problems, anxiety, grief, risk of drug and alcohol abuse and early school leaving.

The ISPCC is a child centred organisation providing a range of independent and unique services which are preventative and empowering in nature.

Our Targets:

Inclusion – to include children in society
Support – giving children the support they need to work through emotional problems
Protection - preventing cruelty to children
Consultation & Participation - seeing children as equals and letting them have a say
Citizenship - valuing children’s rights as citizens

Our Funding:
The ISPCC receives less that 10% of funding from the Government and so has to fundraise 90% of its annual income; relying on the generosity of the general public, companies and schools. In 2011, we need to raise over €4.5 million to maintain our services and continue to be there, 24 hours a day, for children and young people in Ireland.

Our Services:
ChildFocus & TeenFocus: Therapeutic interventions for children and young people who are experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.

Youth Mentoring: A mentor volunteer is matched with a young person to support them.

Childline / Childline Online / TeenTxt: A FREE service for children and young people to access to talk about what's going on for them and what they would like to see happen.

The National Advocacy Service (NAS) is an organisation which helps adults with disabilities. If you have a disability, like a physical or intellectual disability, one of our staff could help you with an issue you are having.
NAS provides a free and confidential advocacy service to adults with a disability, aged 18 years and over.  NAS is independent from Service Providers and funders.
NAS has a particular remit to work with people with disabilities who are in vulnerable situations, such as people who are isolated from their community of choice or mainstream society, may communicate differently and who have limited information or natural supports.  Our staff are called advocates, and they can assist you with problems like deciding where you want to live, healthcare decisions, your personal finances and family or relationships issues.

We provide help for anyone who is having problems in their lives because they are drinking alcohol heavily or dependently. The treatment is done in your own home. This may also include an Alcohol Detox and this is done, again in your own home, by a registered, qualified nurse. Our treatment is called Integrated Treatment or Dual Diagnosis Care. Dual Diagnosis are the words you may hear when someone is talking about a person that has a mental health difficulty, like anxiety, stress or depression and along with that they also have an alcohol or drug problem. This means that the person is treated for their mental health condition along with their addiction or alcohol abuse problem. If both problems are diagnosed then both must be treated or neither will get better.

Play is a child’s natural way of expressing themselves, and Play Therapy provides them with an opportunity to “play out” their thoughts, feelings and problems in a non-directive way, in a safe environment with a caring therapist. In a Play Therapy session, the therapist follows the child’s lead and allows them to explore the wide range of toys available. As their relationship develops the child gains greater insight into their personal problems, through their play. The therapist uses a Play Therapy Tool Kit as well as specialist techniques such as empathetic listening and reflection to aid the therapeutic process. Play Therapy can also be more directive, for example when used with groups rather than individuals. The therapist will form a plan for the group, incorporating different parts of the Play Therapy Tool Kit, and working toward a therapeutic aim – for example, to increase self esteem, or to develop an understanding of loss.

At Play Therapy Mayo, play therapy is administered through one-on-on sessions. How this works is there will be a initial meeting with the parent/guardian to discuss the best way of working with the child. If the pre-therapy conditions are met the child will come to play therapy for a weekly hour long session. After the first 5 sessions there will be a parent review with the therapist to discuss how the child is engaging in the process.

What we do

We aim to empower people with mental ill health and their families through support, information and education. We also advocate for social change, promoting and defending the right of all those affected by mental ill health to equal rights and quality services.

Our core beliefs

All of the work we do is based on the following principles:

  • People with mental ill health should at all times be accorded equal rights, entitlements and opportunities available to any other member of society, and should be empowered to participate in the life of the community;
  • Family members, the majority of whom are the primary providers of mental healthcare in the community should be accorded full recognition and support by the institutions of the State, and be empowered to address their own needs;
  • A history of mental ill health should not be a cause for discrimination in any form, nor should it inhibit the individual’s right of equal access to training, education and employment/opportunities;
  • We should foster a partnership approach with other like-minded organisations.

Our vision

Our main organisational objectives are:
  1. To promote the development of parallel self-help groups for people with mental ill health and their family members and carers
  2. To empower people with mental ill health and their family members through support, information and education.
  3. To promote and defend the right of all those affected by mental ill health to person centred and appropriate services, which support recovery.
  4. To engage in public awareness activities aimed at challenging stigma and discrimination and promoting the rights and needs of all those affected by mental ill health.
  5. To influence positive policy changes in the provision of mental healthcare services.

Each team includes an Occupational Therapist and two Vocational Facilitators who will carry out one-to-one assessments as well as providing on-going vocational guidance and support. Every Work4You participant will be supported to develop a Personal Progression Plan (PPP) which will enable them to set, and achieve goals relating to education, training and employment. The west team covers the counties Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

A full Work4You assessment is carried out by an Occupational Therapist, highlighting each Work4You participants work skills, knowledge and experience. The Work4You team use Valpar assessment tools while also taking a holistic look at the participants’ life. Focusing on the individuals functional and work capacity, identifying transferrable skills.
Work4You will:
- Give the individual a chance to get involved in tasks which they may find more challenging, such as identify areas of work they find difficult or impossible to do
- Provide assistance in setting vocational goals; which include outlining potential work, training and education options
- Ensure that those with an ABI receive feedback, recommendations and strategies with which they can build on their vocational strength
- Develop a sustainable working environment for both the employee, employer, student, tutor and trainer.

Work4You referrals can be made by the person with an ABI, a family member, or employer as well as healthcare and allied professionals. Work4You participants must meet the following criteria:
