Croí na Gaillimhe Resource Centre of St Vincent de Paul

The Resource Centre opened in 2009 offering social, educational and development support for people who find themselves isolated or socially or economically excluded.

Our Aim

The aim of Croí na Gaillimhe is to offer people who feel isolated or vulnerable a place of welcome and a choice of activities in which they can develop skills and meet with other people.

Our activities are designed to meet the needs of older people, migrants and refugees. We also strive to increase and enhance intergenerational and intercultural activities, bridging the gap between different ages and nationalities in our community.

Our Work
We offer a broad range of activities and courses for all age groups:

OLDER PEOPLE:

Lunch and Social club: twice a week with a wide variety of activities and workshops.
Classes: Digital Skills – using your smartphone and tablets, Art & Drawing, Crafting Classes, Sewing learning to use the sewing machine, Chair Yoga, Scrabble group

MIGRANTS/ Asylum Seekers

Fáilte Isteach is a twice weekly conversational English Class for migrants.
Homework Club for Children in Direct Provision
Outreach Programme the children in two Direct Provision Hostels providing help with homework and afterschool activities
Asylum support
We provide information and supports to vulnerable asylum seekers/Refugees through appointment based information, advocacy/self-advocacy training and support sessions.

INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAMME OF LEARNING:
This is delivered with transition year students and older adults working together through the school year, recent groups are learning about Space and Astronomy through the medium of Drama and Art and Mosaic.
400 people use the centres services each week.
